How things used to be on Reddit?
Back in the days, blocking subreddits was a pretty easy task. You can easily filter out feeds and block specific subreddits. All the options were available on the r/all page.
However, this is not the same case anymore. The new version of Reddit was developed about 12 months back in 2018. And it was the major visual change of the website for more than a decade.
The latest design of the site came with a new user interface and smooth graphics. Also, they have removed the r/all page from the site.
Reddit Today
Reddit today has pretty much changed. It comes with a new design. However, if you are an old user, then you can switch back to the old view easily by going to the https://old.reddit.com link. Even if you register a new account on the new site, you will still be able to use the old website.
The old site still has the filter subreddit search box on the r/all page. So you can use this feature to block specific subreddits. And the subreddits will disappear from the old Reddit feed. However, the subreddit you block on the old site will still be visible on the newer version.
How to Block Subreddit?
One of the best ways to block subreddit is to upgrade to the Reddit premium. The premium version comes with quite a lot of features like ad-free experience. Along with that, you will get the option to block subreddits. To get started with the Reddit premium, you can follow these steps:
How to Upgrade Premium Membership:
Step 1: At first, go to Reddit using your computer or phone.
Step 2: Then click on your username from the navigation menu and go to Reddit Premium.
Step 3: Next, you have to click on the Get Reddit Premium button.
Step 4: Now, you will be asked to make a payment. So simply complete the payment by following all the screen updates.
Once upgraded to the premium, you will find the r/all page. So you can use to block spammy subreddits. Also, the process is quite the same as the old version of Reddit.

Use Browser Extension:
Not all of us are interested in paying for the Reddit premium. In this case, you can use a browser extension. Browser extensions will help you to block specific subreddits on your desktop. And they work with a wide range of browsers like Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari and so on. To get started with this, you have to follow these steps:
Step 1: Firstly, launch any of your preferred browsers and visit www.reddit.com.
Step 2: Next, click on the RES extension button, and you will find a drop down menu.
Step 3: Then click on options, and you will get to see a cog icon, so click on it.
Step 4: Now, the Reddit Enhancement Suite’s page will open up. Over here, click on the filterReddit tab in the menu from the left side.
Step 5: Now, you will need to go enable the filterReddit option.
Step 6: After that, scroll down to the Subreddits section.
Step 7: Over here, check the +add filter button in the lower-left corner of the box.
Step 8: Next, you have to enter the subreddit you want to block.
Step 9: Finally, scroll up and click on the save button to save all the settings.
